New! Kairotic Flow Home Archetypes Quiz

We humans are funny creatures.

It doesn’t matter how often I point out (to myself as well as to others!) that Kairotic Flow is a cycle of life, and that the Archetypes really represent Phases of activity that are all equally necessary to life, and therefore all of equal importance… we all — me included! — still wish to understand our own preferred perspectives, first and foremost.

Now… disclaimer… this quiz is not a perfect instrument, by any stretch of the imagination. I’ve not yet worked out to my satisfaction a suitably short series of questions which would be BOTH quick and simple for you to answer, AND lead to accurate, unbiased results.

The questions are geared heavily towards accuracy, rather than to speed and simplicity.

Unless you already know yourself very well indeed, you will probably need to introspect and think carefully about your answers. And either way, if you want accurate results, be sure to read the questions carefully and understand what is being asked, before responding as honestly as you can.

One more point. All of the Archetypes are included in your results, sorted from highest to lowest — because I believe there is huge value in seeing the whole picture, not just part of it.

The Archetypes you ‘like’ least are not only likely to be personally enervating and draining for you… they’re also likely to be the Archetypes you tend to devalue in some way, giving rise to various forms of conflict and difficulty in your life.

How you use this information is up to you.

Here’s how I use it…

What I do nowadays — and not just because I’m writing about it! — is seek to continually deepen my understanding of the perspectives of all of the Archetypes, including those I don’t resonate with so much, well enough to ‘love them fully, at a healthy distance’.

To me this means recognising their beauty and power and necessity without thinking or feeling that I have to become them. Appreciating all the Archetypes comes easily to me, but that last part — giving myself a break from trying to be something I am not — is a lesson I only learned after spending many years of my life attempting to fill roles that drained me.

I have no regrets on a personal level. I’m grateful to learn, however that learning comes about.

But in terms of the impact my choices had on others… well, that’s a different story.

Misalignment with one’s own integrity sends static-y, confusing, contradictory signals to everyone. Often, people (understandably) thought I enjoyed doing things I didn’t enjoy. When asked, or even if I just saw a gap that needed filling and no-one else offering to step into the breach, I would take it upon myself to do what I thought was needed. I would then perform those activities ungraciously, thinking competent performance and living up to my commitments was “enough”.

Of course it wasn’t! That life strategy sucked!! I regularly exhausted myself, especially emotionally and spiritually, stretching to fill spaces so ill-suited to my weaving, and as a result often felt frustrated and irritable, and out of patience with myself and with the world. Eventually I burned out. Surprise, surprise. And none of that would have been pleasant for the souls around me. This aspect, I do sincerely regret.

And so… I hope Kairotic Flow can help dissolve some of this all-too-common friction between people, and maybe even prevent burnout for some.

There’s nothing inherently wrong with humans. We just do some dopey shit sometimes!
